How to Change Your Skype Voicemail Message

Skype voicemail can help you be reached by anyone in the world from anywhere in the world. Would you like callers to hear your own voice when they cannot reach you in person? Skype voicemail can be used with your own personal settings. Follow the steps below to learn how to change a Skype voicemail message.

Things You'll Need:

  • Internet access
  • Computer
  • Skype account
  1. Step 1

    Go to the Skype Web site and access your account.

  2. Step 2

    Click on "Tools." This is located on your toolbar at the top of the screen.

  3. Step 3

    Select "Options." This is found in the pull-down menu.

  4. Step 4

    Click on "Call Forwarding and Voicemail." Determine what you want your message to say.

  5. Step 5

    Click the red "Record" button, then speak your message into the microphone.

  6. Step 6

    Click the green "Playback" button. This allows you to review your message.

  7. Step 7

    Repeat steps 5 and 6 until you are satisfied. You are finished.

Tips & Warnings
  • Make sure to speak clearly and slowly.
  • Log out and log back in with your user name in all lowercase letters if you receive an error message.
  • Select “Preferences” instead of “Options” for a Mac.
  • Use Windows versions 1.0, 2.0 and 4.1 for personal greetings to record.
