Blitzball can consume a lot of your time, so you should first decide whether you want to play. To acquire Wakka's Celestial Weapon, the World Champion, you must play over 100 Blitzball games. A good team can reduce the time needed to win the World Champion, but this represents a serious time commitment. Are you up for it?

Fire the Aurochs. There's a reason the Aurochs haven't won a game in a decade: THEY SUCK! With the exception of Wakka and maybe Jassu, the entire team is garbage. The minute you find a better player, ditch them. Heartless as it may be, the Aurochs take a LOT of work to make them minimally useful. You're much better off headhunting new players.

Consider keeping Jassu around. He is a decent player once he levels and he eventually makes a mean offensive or defensive player. To avoid having him headhunted, keep him in reserve.

    • 4

Keep Wakka if you want. He is a good player to begin with, but eventually you will find better. The good news is that he doesn't charge anything for a contract, and he'll never sign with anyone else. If you ditch him and then change your mind, he's easily picked up.

Grab Nimrook. The Al Bhed Psyche's goalie, Nimrook, is the finest goalie in Spira. Headhunting him once his contract runs dry is tricky, but occasionally you may get lucky. You'll not find a finer goalie anywhere else. And as luck would have it, once you get the Airship, he's right there with you.

Recruit Zalitz when you can. This gent is one of the best midfielders in the game. He is outside the Sphere Theater in Luca, and wears a blue shirt and pants.

    • 7

Recruit Naida. She is a scantily-clad Al Bhed who runs the shop in the Calm Lands and is an excellent defender.

    • 8

Headhunt Brother. Rikku's brother, Brother is one of the fastest players anywhere. Like Wakka, he will never sign with any team but yours, and he is an excellent asset.

Be aware that you probably won't beat the Goers in the first match. Save before you go in. Beating the Goers is a pain, but it can be done. If they score 2 or more points in the first half, reset and try again.

    • 10

Obtain the Jecht Shot and use it. This is Tidus' greatest asset. When you can get the Mark 2 shot, use that. They consume a ton of action points, but they're worth it. Slam off a couple of those, and then you only need to keep the other team from scoring. You get the Jecht shot on the S.S. Winno. You must shoot down all of Jecht's taunts in order to master his shot. Save before you try, then reload if you fail.
