How to Translate a Web Page using Google Language

Google search offers the translation facility for a select number of languages. Currently, Google offers the following translation pairs–English to and from Arabic, Chinese, French, Italian, Korean, Japanese, Spanish and Portuguese; and German to and from French. Here’s how you can use the language tools.

Instructions
  1. Step 1

    Go to the Google search homepage.

  2. Step 2

    Type in the search key in the search box. If your search key yields pages that can be translated by Google, it will have a ‘Translate this page’ link.

  3. Step 3

    Click on the ‘Translate this page’ link.

  4. Step 4

    Alternatively, go to Google's language tools page (see Resources below).

  5. Step 5

    Enter the text you want to translate and select the language to which you want translation in the Translate section. If you want to translate a web page, you can enter the link in the relevant box and choose the language to which you want to translate.

Tips & Warnings
  • You can also use the Language Tools to set up your Google interface in a language of your choice. All you need to do is to click the 'Preferences' link beside the search box, select a language of your choice and save your preferences.
  • Language tools also enable you to visit the Google search page in your local domain. All you need to do is to click on the 'Language Tools' link near the search box and click on the flag corresponding to the country you want.
  • You can download the Google Toolbar from http://toolbar.google.com. The Google Toolbar has an built in Translator which can instantly translate words and pages from and into English, Arabic, Chinese, French, Italian, Korean, Japanese, Spanish, Portuguese and German.
