If you have kids, chances are you have scratched and marred cd's and dvd's lying around. Here is the best way to remove the scratches and restore the disc to a playable condition.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • 100% cotton rag
  • Brasso polishing compound

Step1
Wrap the rag around your index finger and apply a small amount of brasso to the rag
Step2
Polish the scratched area in a circular motion applying a small to medium amount of pressure
Step3
Using a clean part of the rag, wipe off all traces of the brasso polishing compound
Step4
Try playing the CD or DVD disc in its appropriate player

Tips & Warnings

  • Typically the scratch does not have to be entirely erased for the disc to be returned to playable condition
  • Patience is key, polish for a minute or two and try to play the disc. If it still does not work, repeat the steps.
  • Brasso is a very fine polishing compound, if you apply too much pressure you may add scratches to the disc instead of removing them.
