Sick of making plain old paper airplanes? Impress your friends of low IQ and small children with with this quick, easy to make Chinese paper balloon!!

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • A piece of paper (any size or color)
  • The dexterity to be able to fold said piece of paper.
  1. Step 1

Start by squaring off you piece of paper (remove any excess in order to make a perfect square).

  2. Step 2

One you have a nice, clean square of paper, fold the square into a triangle by taking one corner and matching it with it's opposing corner and making a crease. Repeat so you have two creases making a big "x" when the square is opened.

  3. Step 3

This part is a little tricky, but I'll try and explain as best as I can. Fold both creases at the same time making kind of a star pattern. Match the corners making a double-sided triangle.

  4. Step 4

Fold the outside points of the triangle and match them with the top point and crease the folds. Flip your triangle over and do the same for the other side.

  5. Step 5

You should now have a folded piece of paper with a bit of a diamond shape to it. There will be a line down the center of the diamond shape. Fold the points to the right and left of the line inward so the tips touch the line in question. Flip it over and do the same on the other side.

  6. Step 6

Your balloon is now ready for inflating! At one end of balloon, you will find a hole, blow in it. SHAZAM!! You have successfully made something completely stupid and useless.

Tips & Warnings
  • Much like the oragami crane, these Chinese balloons can be strung onto a coathanger, so you can have your very own ghetto mobile.
  • Be mindful of paper cuts.
