Things You'll Need:
- About $50 for two people
- A healthy appetite
- A love for breakfast
- An appreciation for homemade bread
-
Step 1
Get to Ella's in Presidio Heights by cab, foot, bike or your own car. Get there as early as you can if you go on a weekend to avoid waiting. You will not have to wait if you go on a weekday.
-
Step 2
Start by ordering a glass of their fresh squeezed orange juice or "blood orange" juice if it is in season.
-
Step 3
Get a fresh fruit plate as an appetizer. They have a great selection of unique fruits as well as some staples.
-
Step 4
Order Ella's famous Chicken Hash if it is your first time eating at Ella's. NOTE: If you are a vegetarian they have planty of other non meat dishes. The chicken hash is made up of cooked chicken combined with potatoes and onions and molded into a very thick hashbrown like pattie. The pattie is then pan fried in canola oil until it is brown and crispy on the outside but tender on the inside. The dish comes with eggs. You can ask for the eggs to be prepared any way you want. I highly recommend scrambled egg whites.

Step 5
Now that you have yoru main dish ordered you need to make a move on teh pancakes, another Ella's specialty. You can always order their buttermilk or banana pancakes which are both extremly good. If you go on the weekend they add a special featured pancake to their menu in addition to the regular offerings. Special pancakes include; Sour Cream and Lemon Poppyseed, Pumpkin, Cornmeal and a bunch of others depending on the season. Almost everything I have had was great.
