From Quick Guide: Collecting Comic Books
Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Comic Book Boxes
  • Comic Board Backings
  • Acid-free Comic Board Backings
  • Wizard Magazines
  • The Overstreet Price Guides
  • Advance Previews Comic Catalogs
  • Back Comic Book Issues
  • Clear Page Protectors
  1. Step 1

Assess the condition of your comic book. Back issues - comic books that are not currently on the sales rack - are sold in conditions ranging from New/Mint to Very Poor. Condition determines price.

  2. Step 2

Refer to "Overstreet Price Guide" and "Wizard Magazine." These guides have definitive listings for each of the different conditions.

  3. Step 3

Find your title in the listing. If you have a recent, popular book, "Wizard" is the easiest source to use. However, if you have something a little more obscure, then "Overstreet" is your sourcebook.

  4. Step 4

Price your title according to condition. "Wizard" assumes you have a perfect copy, so you will always get the highest current value. "Overstreet" will list all the prices available.

Tips & Warnings
  • Comic books are priced according to their condition, so store yours properly.

on 11/22/2005 another good source is www.comicspriceguide.com it is far more complete than wizard and easier to use than www.wizardworld.com (although this site also had prices on other memorabilia such as statues and busts). You can even store a "portfolio" of your comics to track their value.
