Want to win at street luge? It's simple: Ride fast - faster than anyone has ever gone before.

From Quick Guide: Luge
Difficulty: Moderately challenging
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Safety gear
  • Street luge
  1. Step 1

Realize that once you have your general setup dialed in, fine-tuning is the key to improving your race time.

  2. Step 2

Concentrate on specific items during your practice runs: comfort, steering, turns and so on. Then make small adjustments and try again. Is it better or worse? Keep adjusting until each element of your race is just right.

  3. Step 3

Take your time and be patient - adjust your setup until it's just right.

  4. Step 4

Listen to the advice of others but realize that what works best for someone else may not work for you.

  5. Step 5

Observe the starting techniques of others, especially winners, and try to emulate their form.

  6. Step 6

Exercise and develop your upper body to improve your starting and steering abilities.

  7. Step 7

Understand that harder wheels go faster but are more slippery on the road. Wider trucks steer better and are more stable.

  8. Step 8

Accept that you aren't going to win your first race or even you second but that you're going to learn a lot. The more you learn from each race, the closer you will be to winning.

Tips & Warnings
  • Realize that temperature will effect how your gear performs. Heat makes things softer and looser; cold makes things harder and tighter.
  • Street luge is extrememly dangerous. Always wear proper protection when riding.
