Things You'll Need:
- Safety gear
- Street luge
-
Step 1
Realize that once you have your general setup dialed in, fine-tuning is the key to improving your race time.
-
Step 2
Concentrate on specific items during your practice runs: comfort, steering, turns and so on. Then make small adjustments and try again. Is it better or worse? Keep adjusting until each element of your race is just right.
-
Step 3
Take your time and be patient - adjust your setup until it's just right.
-
Step 4
Listen to the advice of others but realize that what works best for someone else may not work for you.
-
Step 5
Observe the starting techniques of others, especially winners, and try to emulate their form.
-
Step 6
Exercise and develop your upper body to improve your starting and steering abilities.
-
Step 7
Understand that harder wheels go faster but are more slippery on the road. Wider trucks steer better and are more stable.
-
Step 8
Accept that you aren't going to win your first race or even you second but that you're going to learn a lot. The more you learn from each race, the closer you will be to winning.
