2. Do a search for "virtual pets" using a standard search engine, or ask your friends which virtual pet sites they use.
3. Visit a variety of virtual pet sites and learn as much as you can about each one. Pay attention to how much responsibility you'll have (some virtual pets require a great deal of care) and what kinds of games and activities you'll be able to do with your pet.
4. Choose a site to host your virtual pet based on your desired features.
5. Follow the site's instructions for creating an account. You'll be asked to provide information such as your name and e-mail address.
6. Follow the site's instructions for creating a new pet. You'll be asked to give your pet a name and choose other specifications, such as breed, gender and appearance.
7. Allow your pet to grow and gain abilities by feeding him or her regularly and participating in other activities on the site.
