How to Copy Text Attributes Between Illustrator Objects

You can copy text attributes between objects in Adobe Illustrator. These instructions apply to Adobe Illustrator 8. Procedures for other versions may vary.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Adobe Illustrator
  1. Step 1

    Open a file or create a new one.

  2. Step 2

    Click on the Text tool to activate it.

  3. Step 3

    Enter your text.

  4. Step 4

    Select your text and then set the attributes by clicking first on the Text menu, then Font and Text, then Size.

  5. Step 5

    Create a second block of text.

  6. Step 6

    Select the first block of text.

  7. Step 7

    Click on the Eyedropper tool to activate it.

  8. Step 8

    Click the Eyedropper tool in the second block of text. The attributes from the first block are copied.

Tips & Warnings
  • You can also copy type attributes using the Paintbrush tool.
  • To toggle between the Paintbrush tool and the Eyedropper, use the Alt key (Windows) or the Option key (Mac).
