How to Conceal Blemishes

A blemish is a mar in the skin caused by pimples, blocked pores, a skin rash or scarring. Instead of feeling uncomfortable with how you look, keep a few basic makeup supplies on hand to conceal blemishes.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Things You’ll Need:

Step1
Wash your hands before handling your face. Dirt and oils on your hands will only aggravate the blemish.
Step2
Choose a concealer appropriate to the color and type of blemish you wish to hide. Concealer is a creamier foundation makeup with added pigments intended for specific parts of your face.
Step3
Pick a yellow-tinted concealer to hide red blemishes; choose a concealer a little lighter than your blemish for hiding darker marks.
Step4
Choose a masking cosmetic (which is thicker than concealer and has added pigment) to hide more prominent blemishes, such as small scars left from pimples or skin irregularities.
Step5
Apply the concealer or masking cosmetic over the blemish using your finger, an eye shadow brush or sponge.
Step6
Blend the edges with the surrounding skin, using a circular motion.
Step7
Set the masking cosmetic with a special setting powder, then apply oil-free foundation and powder on top.

Tips & Warnings

  • Try a cover stick, which is a stick version of a concealer. These contain a high proportion of wax to add body and thickness.
  • Masking cosmetics are usually not available at drugstores or beauty aid stores but can be purchased at major department stores. They're expensive, but effective.
  • Using too much makeup to cover blemishes may make skin look blotchy. Start conservatively, and add as needed.
  • Cover sticks aggravate acne, so use them sparingly if you're prone to breaking out.

on 8/26/2006 Changing your diet helps in eliminating all of the toxins your body would otherwise secrete through your skin!
Say No To :
1.) Refined sugar *Keep in mind that honey is not only good for you it makes a great sweetener.
2.) Candy *"Resist the urge," that means no Jolly Ranchers, Hershey bars, etc.
3.) Ban fast food from your diet.
4.) Ban junk food. No chips or soda (which is actually what you should stay away from completely), cookies, nacho cheese. If you must get a fountain drink, opt for a more fashionable drink like water. Stay away from milk unless you like milk. In that case you should buy Organic. But really consider staying away from milk entirely, and that means ice cream too, pudding snacks, beef jerky, anything you'd find at 7-11.

Remember, do this so your body can detox you'll notice once your complexion clears up. I did this and I no longer get inflamed pimples. All that junk food I used to like? My body now rejects, so it's not me banning it from me, my body Is.

on 10/1/2007 Say you're going somewhere special, like on a date, and you have a massive whitehead bulging out of the middle of your face. Now, let's face it, white heads can be pretty nasty and some people would prefer a scab to a big nasty white head. Also, cover up doesn't always work and it usually rubs off within 30 minutes. However, if you're going to pop it and get a scab, you might just get a scar. But if you're willing to risk it then I advise that you don't do the following:

- Squeeze around it: That will make it all red and irritated and that'll make it look worse than it did before
- Scrape it off: That will make a huge scab and it will probably leave a scar depending on how fair you are and how prone to scarring you are.

What I suggest you do is that you take a small pin or a a sewing needle. Disinfect it and give the pimple a poke somewhere around the edge to break the thin layer of skin around it. Then press the zit with the back of the pin and everything will drain from the little incision you made. In the end you will end up either no scab or a very small one, and that will decrease the possibility of scarring.

When you're done, dab some rubbing alcohol or toner over the blemish. It'll dry the sucker up.

on 8/8/2006 I started using Proactiv six months ago. I've noticed that it does not control hormonal break outs, but the rest of the month, my skin is clearer than it ever has been. For hormonal break outs, I use Oil of Olay clay mask and then apply Proactiv. It's expensive, but it works!

on 2/1/2006 When it comes to pimples, I don't get them very often. But when I do get them, I am always looking for ways to get rid of them fast!! I've found out (unfortunately) that it takes 2-3 days to get rid of your blemish. So here are some tips on how to treat and conceal:
At night, always make sure to wash your face with an oil-free facial cleanser. Then moisturize with a good face cream avoiding the pimples or blemishes. Then on your blemish, apply a treatment or something with benzoyl peroxide or salicylic acid in it.

In the morning, take a shower or wash your face. Then on your blemish try putting on a little bit of Visine. After you put on the Visine, which will reduce the blemish, put a face cream over your entire face. After that, try dabbing your blemish with some foundation and blend in the foundation around the area of the blemish (so you don't have this big blob of makeup sitting on your face). After you apply the foundation, apply a translucent powder so your face looks flawless.

on 11/22/2005 Wash your face using an oil free face wash.

Apply whatever else you are using to treat your face and leave it to try.Make sure it is fully rubbed in!!

Applt your oil free concler around the spot/s with a finger-make sure its clean. creamy concler is best although dont use tons of it otherwise you will draw more attetion to the spot.

apply a light oil free foundation over the concler the put face powder straight over that for a flawlesss look.

IMPORTANT!!!!!!!!!!..........................

........Only use make-up that maches your skin tone to light will make you look pale and to dark will make you look...SILLY.

.........Make-up will damage the healing process of your spots but i know first hand its like going out with no clothes on if you go out with no conceler so make sure when your at home it comes of even if is only when your in your bedroom.
