Step 1
Search for board shorts and long bathing suits that reach almost to your knees if you are tall and thin. About 23 inches along the seam will do.
-
Step 2
Make sure the trunks tie or snap in the front.
-
Step 3
Choose bright colors and wild patterns only if you are lean.
-
Step 4
Consider cotton, a blend or all nylon fabrics for you swim trunks.
-
Step 5
Pass on the board shorts if you are big in the belly. These have a tendency to hang low under the gut emphasing it more than you want.
-
Step 6
Purcahse a pair of "volley shorts". They are 16 inches along the seam and have a drawstring waist and are simliar to boxer shorts. The drawstring waist will keep the shorts in place and the shorter length draws focus away from the belly.
-
Step 7
Consider dark colors to further draw attention away from the belly.
-
Step 8
Choose all cotton or a blend of fabrics.
-
Step 9
Skip the over-size trunks to look thin.
-
Step 10
Search for shorts that are 20 inches in length if you are short. Going longer will make your legs look short.
-
Step 11
Choose solid colors, to create the illusion of height.
-
Step 12
Go against loud patterns because they emphasize the division of your body at the waist and knee, making you look even shorter.

on 11/12/2007 It's amazing that guys in the USA are so behind the times.
I have been wearing bikinis, thongs and g-strings at the beach for years. My girlfriend loves it. I work out hard and have a nice build so why cover it up. You have one of the most daring men's swimwear companies in the world right in your backyard. It's called koalaswim and I order suit from the USA to Germany. The small Lycra suits feel great, look great and leave me with the best possible tanline

on 11/22/2005 If you're thin, don't wear big "balloon shorts." You should always go with cotton shorts that fit snugly, so you can show off what you have! "If you got it, flaunt it!"
