on 4/6/2008 On a side note, some people will call the 1 inch punch a trick or a motion. But it does do the damage for what it is and it is quite powerful.

on 4/6/2008 As we are aware, the external approach involves muscular and body alignment. Using power based, torque generation with hips, etc. For example, the 1 inch punch or any punch (jab, strike, etc) may break a persons ribs from the surface and internally it will shock the internal system. If individuals learn how to apply shorter distance striking, it has the most powerful impact and there is invaluable context. But if some think of it as a 1 trick pony then it will not be useful for that person other than showboating. However, more athletes such as boxers, mixed martial artists are beginning to apply shorter distance punching or power with their lead.

on 4/6/2008 Excellent comment with body mechanics and technique. With punching with the lead some may call it 1 inch punch in martial arts. It has been around long before Bruce Lee brought it to Hollywood. Short power punch such as the 1 inch punch will do damage using your lead. It will involve the wrist joint, 3 bottom knuckled is performed. Traditionally to apply the knowledge and technique is focusing the internal aspect. The centering of the qi for qi (blood) circulation in the body is by developing INTERNAL POWER that is referred as the internal qi. One is practiced with the breathing, qi meditation, breathing and visualization (developing power, centers various parts within the body) and this is the internal approach.
