A picot isn't actually a stitch; it's the space between the stitches. A picot is made by leaving a space between double stitches.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Embroidery Scissors
  • Tatting Needles
  • Tatting Shuttles
  • Tatting Thread
  • Beeswax
  • Bobbins
  • Crochet Hooks
  • Fabric Stiffeners
  • Sewing Needles
  • Tapestry Needles
  • Threads
  1. Step 1

    Make a double stitch.

  2. Step 2

Leave a small space of thread.

  3. Step 3

    Make another double stitch.

  4. Step 4

Push the second double stitch up snug against the first double stitch. The picot is the loop of thread that forms between the two stitches.

  5. Step 5

Make picots in any size. To make a larger size, leave a larger space of thread between the two stitches.

Tips & Warnings
  • Picots appear as lacy loops in the tatting, but also serve to join your tatting to other parts of tatting.
