Find a jump that throws you slightly upward. Just as important, the jump should have a sloped landing. A flat landing is harder on the body.

      • 2

Hit the jump at a comfortable speed. You can perform a "heli" at very slow or very fast speeds. Pick an approach speed that's comfortable for you.

      • 3

Rotate your head in the direction of your spin as you hit the jump.

      • 4

Throw your arms in the same direction as your head, with one arm moving across your body and the other falling behind.

      • 5

Plant your chin against your shoulder to continue rotating.

      • 6

        Spot the landing.

      • 7

Bring your hips and legs around.

      • 8

Absorb the landing by bending your knees and ankles.

    Tips & Warnings

    • Mentally, finding the right jump may be the most important step. A good jump helps alleviate fears of pain and injury.

    • You needn't swing your hips and shoulders much. If you lead with your head, your body will follow.

    • Skiing is a physically demanding sport that can result in serious injury. We recommend that you seek the proper equipment and training before undertaking this activity.

When throwing a 360 you don't not want to use your arms to spin because this will be more likely to put you off balance. Rely more on your shoulders. Then when your 3/4's of the way around spot your landing and watch it. This will straighten you out to land. Then stomp the landing and ride away!

When first learning, start by taking small jumps that launch you across the slope, and start your spin in an uphill direction. That way, if you only spin 270 degrees, you will be facing downhill and it will be easier to land and recover.

Begin your rotation with your body before you come off of the lip of the jump, otherwise you won't rotate far enough.
