Construct a floral Easter egg by covering a piece of floral foam with colorful blossoms.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Easter Basket Grass
  • Oasis Floral Foam
  • Flowers
  • Garden Shears
  • Old Kitchen Knife
  • Platters
  1. Step 1

Select colorful flowers from your garden or the flower shop. Carnations, primroses, pansies, calendulas and similarly flat-faced flowers work well for this project.

  2. Step 2

Soak a block of floral foam in a basin of water until it sinks to the bottom.

  3. Step 3

Carve the soaked block of foam into an egg shape, leaving the base of the egg flat.

  4. Step 4

Place the shaped foam, flat side down, into a shallow, waterproof container such as a platter.

  5. Step 5

Insert flower stems into the foam, beginning at one end of the egg shape. The flowers should have short stems so that the blossoms rest directly on the foam.

  6. Step 6

Cover the entire block of foam, including the sides, with flowers. Create stripes, dots and patterns with the flowers.

  7. Step 7

Place some plastic Easter basket grass around the base of your arrangement to complete the effect of a giant floral egg.

  8. Step 8

Use your Easter egg as a centerpiece or to grace your holiday buffet table.

Tips & Warnings
  • Use flowers of roughly equal size for the most elegant effect.
