  1. Step 1

    Drink at least a liter of water in the hours before your ride.

  2. Step 2

    Bring two water bottles or a backpack hydration system with you on every ride. Bring even more water on long rides or if it's exceptionally hot.

  3. Step 3

    Drink at least one liter of water for each hour you ride.

  4. Step 4

    Drink before you get thirsty.

  5. Step 5

    Drink every time you stop to rest or reach an easy section of trail.

  6. Step 6

    Continue to drink water and eat watery foods (such as oranges or apples) after your ride.

  7. Step 7

    Try to avoid alcohol and caffeine, as they tend to dehydrate.

Tips & Warnings
  • If you're not urinating, you're not drinking enough water.
  • Mountain biking is a physically demanding sport that could result in serious injury. We recommend that you seek proper training and equipment before attempting this activity.
