How to Perform a Straight Punch in Karate
A straight punch is fast and versatile. Striking at high, middle or low positions, the straight punch is usually performed in combination with a reverse punch to add force to an attack.

Tips & Warnings
Keep your hips and shoulders square to the front throughout your punch.
Increase power by twisting the hips, shifting the center of gravity and driving from the rear leg as you punch.
Do not lock the arm at full extension. Keep a slight bend at the elbow.
Keep the arm muscles relaxed until the moment of impact.
