How to Open a DPM File

Save

DPM files are plugin files for Avid Technology's Pro Tools. Pro Tools is a professional-grade audio editing suite with the capability to edit multi-track audio, add audio effects and filters as well as adjust an audio file's properties. DPM plugin files are tools, features or enhancements to Pro Tools that enable additional functionality. For example, the Pro Tools Equalizer plugin enables you to fine-tune the strength of frequencies like bass and treble. Each plugin has unique properties, with some adding to direct functionality like the Equalizer and others expanding the Pro Tools audio effects or filters libraries.

  • Select the DPM file from its current location, and press "Ctrl-X" to cut it.

  • Navigate to the Pro Tools plugins folder. The file path should be the same as or similar to the following:

    C:\Program Files\Common Files\Avid\Audio\Plug-Ins

  • Press "Ctrl-V" to paste the DPM files into the plugins folder.

  • Launch Avid Pro Tools. The DPM plugins should now be loaded and ready to use.

Tips & Warnings

  • If you have a Pro Tools plugin file that does not feature the ".DPM" extension, rename the file with the DPM extension. Since Pro Tools 8, all plugin files require the DPM extension to operate properly.
