Windows Update is designed to install updates to your operating system automatically, but you can configure the app to bypass updates. Unchecking a box in the app will instruct Windows to bypass an update, but it will remain in the queue until you do install it. If you want to completely bypass an update, you'll need to go one step further and hide the update so you won't see it again.
Move your mouse pointer to the left side of your Windows desktop and click the Search charm from the sidebar that appears.
Type "Windows Update" into the Search charm and select that item when it appears in the search results.
Click the link for important or optional updates, depending on which type of update you want to bypass.
Right-click on the update you wish to bypass and then select "Hide update."
Click the "OK" button at the bottom of the window to apply your changes.
Tips & Warnings
