In "Red Dead Redemption: Undead Nightmare," John Marston sets out to find a cure for his zombie-bitten wife and son. On your travels, you'll find towns that are overrun with zombies. A few survivors fight back in each town, but if everyone dies, that town is lost forever. You can partially regain a lost town by killing all the zombies in it, but they'll come back every 24 in-game hours. Fast travel is enabled at these saved towns, but weapons and ammo aren't available and the townsfolk will never return.
Pause the game and check your map. Look for towns marked as "Lost."
Head to the lost town on foot or via fast travel.
Kill all the zombies in the town. Zombies appear as red dots on your mini map. As you kill zombies, a yellow bar fills up at the top of the screen to indicate your progress. The town is marked as "Saved" on the map once all zombies have been defeated.
Return to the town after 24 in-game hours to defeat the zombies again.
Tips & Warnings
- If you give a town's survivors guns and ammo, they'll help you fight off the zombies. This is much faster than doing the job by yourself, and the townsfolk have a better chance of surviving the attack.
- Killing zombies is easier if you're riding one of the four Horses of the Apocalypse. These mythical beasts have infinite stamina and can run without tiring. They also have special powers. War, for example, lights zombies on fire by touching them. When a horse is nearby, you'll see a blue circle on your map. Head into the circle and lasso the horse.
