How to Transfer Audio Files From an iPhone


You may have audio files like music or voice memos on your iPhone that you want transferred to your computer or to share with your friends. You can easily back up all audio, including voice memos, to your computer via iTunes. You also have the option of sending voice memos in a text message or as an attachment to an email; however, you cannot text or email other types of audio files.

Things You'll Need

  • IPhone USB connector cable

Transferring Audio via iTunes

  • Connect your iPhone to your computer via the USB cable included in your iPhone's packaging. Open iTunes.

  • Click "iPhone" in the left pane of the iTunes window.

  • Select "Music" at the top of the screen and choose "Sync Music."

  • Click the "Include Voice Memos" button, if transferring voice memos, and choose "Apply." Wait for your music and voice memos to save to your computer.

Transferring Voice Memos via Text or Email

  • Navigate to your iPhone's home screen and tap the "Voice Memo" icon.

  • Tap the button with the three horizontal lines in the lower right corner of the Voice Memo window.

  • Tap the voice memo you want to share. Tap the "Share" button.

  • Tap the "Email" or "Message" button in the Share Voice Memo Using window and enter the phone number or email address to which you want to send your voice memo.
