How to Ring a Bell for Turns on a Garmin

Garmin's series of cycling GPS units feature a "Turn Guidance" option that makes an audible tone before you are supposed to make a turn. This reduces the chance of missing a turn, which is immensely helpful when you're biking in an unfamiliar area. Although this feature is turned on by default if you are following map or downloaded route directions, you may need to enable it manually if you want to follow a course you saved previously.

  • Select "Menu" from the main screen and choose "Courses."

  • Tap the course you want to follow to open the overview screen.

  • Touch the wrench icon in the bottom-right corner to access the settings.

  • Navigate to the "Turn Guidance" option. Tap it to enable the warning beep before turns.
