Is There a Way to Put iPod Touch Apps on a Samsung Omnia?

Although both the Samsung Omnia and iPod Touch are smart devices that allow you to add apps for connecting with others, playing games or staying organized, you cannot put iPod Touch apps on the Samsung Omnia because it uses the Windows Mobile operating system. However, some software companies offer the same or comparable apps for the Omnia in the Samsung Application Store or Windows Live Marketplace. For example, Facebook, YouTube and Adobe Reader are all available from the Windows Marketplace. With these apps, you can have a similar experience on your phone as you would with your iPod Touch.

Instructions

  1. Samsung App Store

    • 1

Tap to open the Internet screen on your Omnia.

    • 2

Touch "Application Store" to open the Samsung store.

    • 3

Touch the "New," "Top" or "Category" tabs on the top of the marketplace to view the available apps. These tabs will be further divided into free and paid apps.

    • 4

Select an application to view more information, ratings and comments. Tap the "Buy" button from the app information screen for paid apps or "Get" to download free apps. When prompted, click "Ok" to install the application.

    Windows Marketplace

    • 5

Tap on "Marketplace" in the Start screen. Sign in with your Windows Live ID.

    • 6

Touch Apps or Games to view the available apps in either category. Flick the screen left or right to view top, new or featured apps in the category.

    • 7

Tap an app to see more information about it or add it to your Samsung Omnia. Touch the "Install" button to download it to your phone or tap "Buy" to pay for an app.

Tips & Warnings

  • Some apps in the Windows Marketplace allow you to try them before you buy them.

  • If the Samsung Application Store is not installed on your Omnia, open the menu, select "Applications" and choose "Download" to install the store app.

  • The Marketplace bills to your phone bill by default. Tap :Change payment method" on the purchase confirmation screen to pay with a credit card, instead.

  • Samsung's application store is only available in some regions, such as Europe, and may not work on your Omnia depending upon where you live.
