Laminate end splashes are exactly like backsplashes except they're shorter and reside on the side edge of the counter instead of the back. An end splash is installed on any laminate counter that stops at a wall or cabinet and covers any irregularities between the counter's edge and the wall. If both ends of the counter meet a wall, you have two end splashes. Installing the end splash is identical to installing the backsplash and requires only adhesive.
Step 1
Lay the main countertop on sawhorses so you can access the side where you are installing the side splash. Hold the side splash up to the side of the counter with the laminate facing toward the counter. Ensure the front and bottom edges of the side splash align perfectly with the counter.

Step 2
Place a pencil on the laminate side of the side splash and trace from the front edge of the counter to the back. Remove the side splash to reveal an outline of the countertop on it.
Step 3
Insert the drill bit into the drill and create six equally spaced holes along the bottom edge of the side splash inside the countertop outline. The holes should penetrate all the way through.
Step 4
Apply construction adhesive or silicone caulk to the entire inside of the pencil line on the side splash.
Step 5
Hold the side splash up to the counter and align the pencil outline with the counter. Ask an assistant to hold it firmly in place while you use a rag to wipe off any excess adhesive that oozes out.
Step 6
Insert one of the long screws through each hole from the back of the side splash, using a power drill. The screws need to grip into the counter.
Warning
Wear protective eyewear when using power tools. Ventilate the area, as adhesives emit fumes.
