Rosy, glowing cheeks have always been a sign of good health. But what if you exercise regularly and eat a balanced diet that includes lots of fresh fruits and vegetables – and still your skin looks lifeless and dull? Then it’s probably time to give nature a little nudge by mixing up some homemade topical face treatments, straight from your kitchen. Remember that everyone’s skin responds differently, partly because of genetics. Some treatments may require several attempts before you find the one (or ones) that will make you blush with pride.
Things You'll Need
- Cotton balls
- Beetroot juice, grape juice or pomegranate juice
- Apple cider vinegar or red wine
- Corn flour
- Lemon juice
- Orange peel
- Baking soda
Soak a cotton ball with either beetroot juice, grape juice or pomegranate juice and rub it on your cheeks. Leave it sit for about 20 minutes before rinsing your cheeks to a rosy glow.
Rub a cotton ball soaked with either apple cider vinegar or red wine over your cheeks. Let dry and rinse with cool water.
Puree a cucumber and rub the juice over your cheeks with a cotton ball before rinsing.
Cut a piece of papaya and gently rub into your face for about 20 minutes before rinsing.
Mix an egg white with some corn flour and apply the mixture to your face. When it dries, dip your fingers in warm water and massage your face for about 20 minutes before rinsing with cool water.
Mix an egg white with honey and apply the paste to your face. Let it sit for about 20 minutes before rinsing.
Mash a ripe banana and apply the mixture to your face. Or make a paste consisting of a mashed banana, honey and lemon juice. Leave the mixture on for 30 minutes and then wash it off.
Boil some cabbage in water, then wash your face with the cabbage water when it cools down.
Mix powdered orange peel and milk and then wash your face with the mixture every morning for a fresh, rosy look.
Exfoliate your skin at least several times a week to rinse away dead skin cells and leave your skin fresh, clean and rosy. Make a thick paste consisting of baking soda and lemon juice or baking soda and cucumber juice and rub it thoroughly into your face for several minutes. Leave it dry, then rinse. If your skin is oily, you may be able to exfoliate every other day; if it is dry, you may wish to exfoliate every three or four days.
