Canned food items can make a snazzy addition to a banquet table by adding visual interest and a personal touch. Use cans from your own pantry or purchase new ones in different sizes to create a special table display. Whether your banquet table will be used for a formal occasion, such as a wedding, or a casual gathering of friends and family, you can design a wonderful setting that will create memories that last.
- Canned food, in various sizes and shapes
- Squares of cloth
- Small glass plates
- Dried beans
- Artificial or real flowers
Gather a variety of canned goods. Focus on different shapes and sizes, but select several matching pairs for visual harmony.
Arrange three or four matching cans near the center of the table. These can be used as candelabras with the addition of a square bit of cloth matching your decor. Aim for 1 1/2 to 2 feet square for maximum coverage. Wide pillar candles work best on these, but add a small glass plate between the candle and the cloth to minimize the risk of fire.
Take several larger cans, empty the contents and remove the labels. Clean and dry the cans thoroughly. Fill each approximately halfway with dry beans and add several flowers. The dry beans will help them stay in place. You can use real or artificial flowers, and depending on the occasion, decorate each can to reflect the party's theme.
