How to Decrypt a Password-Protected Chat Log on MSN Plus

Messenger Plus! is the name of a free add-on for Windows Live Messenger, the instant messaging application previously known as MSN Messenger. One of the features of Messenger Plus! is its ability to encrypt conversation logs to prevent unauthorized users from reading them. If you would like to decrypt your existing chat logs and store them in plain text on your hard drive, you can deactivate Messenger Plus!'s encryption feature.

      Launch Messenger Plus!. You can find a shortcut to Messenger Plus! application in the Start menu.

      Click on "Preferences" and open the "Conversations" tab.

      Select "Log Encryption" from the left-hand column.

      Deactivate the check box next to "Protect my chat logs with a password" and enter your password.

      Click on the "OK" button. The program will now decrypt your existing logs and store them in plain text on your hard drive.
