How to Close a Hole on a Bodyboard
Sooner or later, you're going to ding your bodyboard. Whether you run afoul of a rock at the beach or a car door in the parking lot, putting a hole in your board is inevitable. But don't worry. You can close most minor holes, dents and dings in bodyboards almost as quickly as they occur with an inexpensive tool every boarder should keep on hand.
Things You'll Need
- Hot-melt glue gun
- All-purpose glue sticks
- Plastic spreader or putty knife
- Single-edge razor blade (optional)
Instructions

1
Remove any loose bits of foam, vinyl or plastic from the area of the ding. Examine the foam underneath the hole for moisture. Allow the board to dry thoroughly or the glue might not adhere properly.
-
2
Plug in the glue gun. Insert a fresh glue stick. Allow the gun to come up to temperature before proceeding.

-
3
Squeeze melted glue liberally into and around the area of the ding. Fill the hole completely. Utilize a plastic spreader or putty knife to smooth the repair. Work quickly while the glue remains molten.
-
4
Allow the glue to cool. Trim off any glue strings or lumps with a single-edge razor blade, if desired. Once the repair is complete and the glue cools, the bodyboard is ready for use.

Tips & Warnings
Different types of adhesives and resins are available from a variety of manufacturers that are specifically designed for bodyboard repairs, although many require a longer drying time than hot-melt glue.
Be careful not to touch the tip of a hot-melt glue gun to your skin, and be careful when handling the repair until the molten glue cools.
