How to Pan in AutoCAD With a Touchpad Mac

AutoCAD computer-aided design software by Autodesk has several controls for maneuvering the point-of-view when working on a project. One control is the pan, which allows you to move around the project without affecting the zoom. The Apple touchpad, which is available on MacBook Pro laptops or as a peripheral navigation device called Magic Trackpad, provides a different method for manipulating projects in AutoCAD than a standard mouse. If you have used Apple's Magic Mouse with AutoCAD, you're probably familiar with using gestures to manipulate objects. Still, Magic Trackpad's gestures are different than those used with the Magic Mouse. The Apple touchpad has two methods for panning in AutoCAD.

Instructions

    • 1

Start AutoCAD and open your project.

    • 2

Place two fingers on the touchpad and drag them to pan the project view. You can move your fingers in any direction, as long as both fingers remain on the trackpad.

    • 3

Hold down the space bar, place one finger on the touchpad and drag it around to pan the project view. As when using the two-fingers method of panning, you can move your finger in any direction on the touchpad as long as you hold down the space bar.
