How to Make a Face Collage
Making face collages from recycled magazines is a a simple and inexpensive craft project that creates an opportunity to use creativity and have fun. Gather a few supplies that you likely already have around the house, and then use your imagination to make variety of face collages. Face collages are fun for kids and adults alike, and are appropriate for a group of children such as an art class, or a birthday or slumber party.
Things You'll Need
- Scissors
- Poster board, card stock or construction paper
- Magazines
- Glue stick

Cut out oval face shapes from poster board. For more realistic face collages, use flesh-colored paper. You can also use inexpensive construction paper, but poster board or card stock is sturdier.

Remove pictures of faces from old magazines. Cut out the facial features, including noses, mouths, ears and hair. You can also cut out mustaches, beards, earrings or glasses. For young children, an adult can cut features from several faces ahead of time. Keep the features together, or mix them up.

Glue the facial features to the oval shape to make faces that are serious or smiling, or combine features to make silly faces. A glue stick keeps the job neat and minimizes cleanup.

Attach the face to a larger piece of poster board. Glue just one face, or arrange several faces on the same poster board.

Tips & Warnings
Instead of a magazine, you can draw facial features on a separate piece of paper. Cut out the features, and then glue them to an oval shape.
You can also make face collages using craft items such as yarn, felt or googly eyes, which are found at most craft shops.
