How to Disable the Remote Beep for Locking and Unlocking Doors on a 2005 Toyota Avalon

The 2005 Toyota Avalon's remote keyless entry provides remote feedback when you lock the car doors via the remote. This feedback includes the horn beeping as well as the headlights flashing. Disable the beeping by setting the Avalon's remote configuration to silent. If you change your mind and decide you want the beep, repeat the process to enable it. Some 2005 Avalon models come with a Smart Key system, without a key blade. The beeping cannot be turned off on these models. The procedure only works for the key-cylinder-type ignition.

Instructions

    • 1

Sit in the Avalon's driver's side seat with the driver's door open. Insert the key into the ignition, then quickly remove it.

    • 2

Insert the key within five seconds of removing it and turn on the ignition. Wait 10 seconds.

    • 3

Quickly push any button on the remote twice. You'll hear two beeps to let you know the configuration has been changed.

    • 4

Remove the key and test the remote to verify the beep is turned off. If it is not, repeat the process.
