How to Make a Background for IMVU
When you sign up for an IMVU account, you get a profile page that contains a plain, gray-colored background. This background provides a backdrop for the panel boxes, such as About Me, that contain your information, but you have the opportunity to change this element to something you prefer. IMVU gives you the ability to switch the background to a different color and picture to make a custom design. With an accessible photo on your computer, use the tools on IMVU to make the background you want.

Point your browser to a free picture host such as TinyPic, ImageShack, Postimage.org, FreeCodeSource.com or imgPlace. Click the "Choose File" option to select the image file from your computer, and follow the prompts to upload it to the host. Copy the direct link that displays at the end of this task (for example, http://host.com/yourimage.gif).

Log in to your IMVU account. Click your avatar name in the menu bar at the top to go to your profile page.

Click the "Edit" button in the top, right corner of your profile. Select the "Page background" option in the drop-down list to open the Background Options window.

Enter your image link in the "URL for background image" text field, and click the "Tiled image" box to make the background picture appear multiple times. Further, click a shade in the provided color wheel on the right to apply color to your background.

Click the "Save" button at the bottom of the window. Your new background is now published to your IMVU page.
