Start with a full head of cornrows. Braid a few sections of cornrows to your hair in the direction you'd like your style to flow. Start from the forehead braiding away from the face, or part the hair and braid downward from the part. Continue each braid until it reaches the edge of your hairline and nape of your neck completely covering your scalp.

Most beauty supply retailers carry several types of curly hair extensions. Grasp a loose strand of curly synthetic hair by one end between your thumb and index finger. Fold the end over about an inch to make a small loop. At the point of which you want the loose curls to begin, gently push your crochet hook under the braid until the latch extends through the opposite end.

You can find crochet hooks at craft and yarn retailers. Wrap the loop of the curly hair extension around the latch of your crochet hook. Gently pull the loop through the braid until it extends through the other side and remove the crochet hook. Grasp the loose strand of curls in your fist and with the other hand, pull it through the loop. Gently pull the stand to tighten the knot.

Divide the newly attached hair extension into two separate, even strands. Cross one strand over the other to resemble an "X" shape. Push one strand underneath the loop and then bring it all the way through it. Join both strands in your fist and pull downward to make another tight knot securing the loose curls to the loop.

Move on to the next cornrow. Take another strand of curly hair extensions and repeat all four steps. Continue this process until you have crocheted and knotted each cornrow with curly hair extensions. Use a pick to blend the extensions closing any separations. Lightly mist with hairspray to lock-in your style.
