What Convertibles Does GM Make?

General Motors, also known as GM, is one of the largest American car and truck manufacturers. Based in Detroit, the company produces domestic vehicles by Cadillac, Chevrolet, Buick, Pontiac, Saturn, GMC and Hummer. The GM brands convertible models feature some of the innovative design and safety features that General Motors is known for.

Cadillac XLR

Cadillac is well regarded as one of General Motor's luxury brands. The standard Cadillac XLR comes with two seats and a retractable hardtop. According to Edmunds, some of its features include adaptive cruise control, keyless startup and a satellite radio with Bose sound system. The XLR's powerful 4.6-liter V8 engine can make it go from zero to 60 mph within six seconds. The Cadillac XLR convertible was in production from 2004 to 2009.

Pontiac G6

GM announced that it would cease the production of Pontiac cars in 2009 and the brand completely phased out by 2011. The Pontiac G6 Convertible has sleek interior and exterior styling. Notable features for the G6 include a retractable hardtop, automatic climate control and a 3.5-liter V6 engine. There are hints of racing inspiration with this model. According to Pontiac, this GM convertible features analog driving gauges and chrome exhaust pipes.

Saturn Sky

The Saturn Sky has a combination of sporty styling, comfort and low pricing. The Saturn Sky is one of GM's economy oriented convertibles and the only sports car offered by Saturn. One of its downfalls is that is has very limited storage and trunk space. This two-seat roadster is no longer in production and the entire Saturn line is in the process of being phased out by GM.

Chevrolet Corvette Coupe

Produced by GM's Chevrolet division, also known as Chevy, the Corvette Coupe is one of the two latest Corvette models for 2011. According to "Motor Trend Magazine," the Corvette Coupe has a 6.2-liter V8 engine and is part of the sixth generation of Corvettes. The Coupe has a removable roof panel, seven speaker Bose sound system and a six-speed transmission according to Chevrolet. This sports car has tested an impressive 190 mph at top speed.

Chevrolet Corvette Grand Sport

The 2011 Grand Sport offers similar performance and handling to the Coupe, but differs when it comes to style. It has wider rear fenders, air scoops and upgraded tires. This model has impressive daily usability and features comfortable seats. The Grand Sport standard model comes with a manual top, but a power top is an available upgrade. According to Chevrolet, the power top can retract within 18 seconds.
