1
Clean and moisturize your face. Light makeup needs a clean, fresh base. Wash your face with a cleanser that suits your skincare needs. After you have patted your face dry, blend in a facial moisturizing cream or lotion. Let the moisturizer dry before applying makeup.

2
Apply a foundation cream. Aim for a sheer, lightweight cream that gives a hint of color and gently hides flaws. Use a shade that complements your natural complexion and focus on areas that need extra coverage, such as under the eyes. For an even lighter look, use shimmery translucent powder over a bare face.

Blend blush into the apples of the cheeks. Cream or liquid blushes are easier to blend and give a more natural-looking flush. If you use powder, look for powder blush with a light shimmer. Rosy pink, light red or peach are feminine colors that suit many skin tones. Blend the blush into the roundest parts of your cheeks.

Highlight. Give your skin a light, youthful glow by applying a pale shade of highlighter cream or shimmer to the tops of your cheekbones, your temples and the tops of your brow bone, right beneath the eyebrows.

5
Color and line the eyelids. Steer clear of harsh, heavy makeup. Coat the eyelids in a sheer cream, gold or peach shadow. Using an eyeliner pencil in dark brown or gray, line the entire length of the upper lash line. Smudge the outer half of the line, giving a subtle cat-eye effect.

6
Sweep on mascara. Long, dark eyelashes make your eyes look more feminine. Apply one coat and wait for it to dry before applying a second, lighter coat. Your lashes should stand out, not clump together.

7
Apply lip gloss. A light layer of gloss produces a soft, feminine look. Use a shade that complements your complexion and your blush. Apricot goes well with peach cheeks, whereas rosy cheeks look flirty paired with berry or baby-pink lips.

Tips & Warnings
For a very light, breezy look, skip eyeliner completely. Instead use an eyelash curler to give your eyes a more open, doe-eyed appearance and apply a few coats of a colored mascara. Midnight blue, deep emerald or dark purple mascara add a subtle sparkle of color to your eyes without needing eyeliner.
Add extra glamour by applying a bright red lipstick instead of a gloss. To soften the look slightly, rub the lipstick onto your finger or a cotton swab first, then gently apply it to your lips, blending well for a red tint.
