If you do not regularly clean your brushed aluminum rims, then you make them vulnerable to scratches and other damage.

Brushed aluminum, also known as burnished aluminum, is a popular finish for automotive rims. This type of aluminum finish looks like lustrous, polished aluminum that has been rubbed with a pencil eraser. Since brushed aluminum is a sensitive finish, you need to properly clean your rims to prevent damaging them.

Spray glass cleaner on the rims to increase luster.

    • 6

Dry the rims with a dry cloth or chamois.

Tips & Warnings

  • Rims come in many types of materials and may have varied reactions to different cleaning products. Before using a new product, whether commercial or homemade, test out a small amount of the product on a discreet area of the rim.

  • If your rims are damaged, make sure you clean them with a gentle touch so you do not break off any loose pieces.
