How to Register a MAC Address With Time Warner


To begin using Time Warner’s Internet service, you may be required to register the Media Access Control (MAC) address of your cable modem. The MAC address is a 12-digit string of numbers and letters used to identify your hardware. The Time Warner cable modem comes with a preconfigured MAC address that can be registered through the Time Warner admin console.

  • Launch a Web browser and navigate to the default Time Warner admin console at

  • Enter your admin user name and password and press “Enter” to log in.

  • Click the “Basic Settings” menu.

  • Select “Static IP” under "Network configuration."

  • Enter your 12-digit MAC address in the "Cloned MAC Address" field.
