KitchenAid ceramic cooktops offer a smooth cooking surface, usually with four or five burners, and are typically installed on the top of a kitchen island or counter. While the cooktop offers similar cooking features to other stovetops in terms of surface burners and temperature controls, the appliance may offer additional challenges in terms of keeping the cooktop clean and free of scratches. It will also face typical cooktop issues, such as heat accuracy.
Things You'll Need
- Ceramic cooktop cream
- Ceramic cooktop scraper
- Paper towel
- Measuring tape
Replace or reset the household circuit breaker or fuse if nothing is working on the KitchenAid cooktop. Press “On/Off” to turn on the cooktop before turning or touching the control knob or keypad to select a cooking temperature.
Push “Off” or turn the control knob to “Off” if all of the cooktop lights are flashing. Allow the cooktop to cool, and then clean the entire surface with a ceramic cooking cream. Reset the power once the cooktop has been cleaned, which should stop the lights from flashing.
Press and hold the "Control Lock/All Off" key pad for 5 seconds if nothing on the cooktop will operate but the power is working. The red light on the cooktop will go out when the control lock is released.
Press the "+" or "-" keypads or turn the control knob to increase or decrease the cooking temperature if food cooks very slowly or too quickly. Look at the selected control key pad or control knob to make sure the selected control is the correct control for the desired burner if the heat does not seem to be changing as expected.
Access the underside of the cooktop from the countertop or island (if possible) if cooking results remain inaccurate even after changing the cooking temperature. Place a level on top of the cooktop when cool and look at the bubble in the middle window of the level. If the bubble is off-center, use a screwdriver to tighten or loosen the screws on the bottom of the cooktop. Turn the screws clockwise to tighten or counterclockwise to loosen. Continue to make adjustments to the screws until the bubble in the level is balanced in the center. Contact KitchenAid for advice if leveling the cooktop does not improve cooking results or if you cannot access the bottom of the cooktop.
