How to Hack an iPod Touch Passcode Without Losing Data

To gain access to your iPod Touch without losing data when you don't remember the passcode and you haven't backed it up in iTunes, you must jailbreak the device. The usual fix for removing a forgotten password is to restore the iPod through iTunes. This wipes everything from the device, although you can restore your files and data from a backup afterwards, if you made a backup. If you don't mind voiding your warranty, write down the version number of your device as is shown under "Settings," "General" and "About." Search for a jailbreak tool online that corresponds to that number. After you jailbreak the device, browse and remove the files that enable the passcode.

Things You'll Need

  • USB cable
  • Download a file browser from, or and save it to your computer "Downloads" folder. The programs all work similarly.

  • Double-click the setup file and click "Next" through the prompts to install. Leave all options on default.

  • Click "Finish." Locate the new icon on the desktop. Double-click it to launch the program.

  • Connect the iPod Touch to your computer using the USB cord and wait for the program to recognize it.

  • Click to expand the folders in the left pane and navigate to "Var/Keychains."

  • Click "Keychain-2.db" and press "Delete" to delete the password.
