Things You'll Need
- Brush
- Comb

Brush the hair thoroughly to remove all tangles and snags.

Separate your hair into six different sections with a comb. Wrap each section around itself and secure to the head using metal hair clips.

Open your at-home dye kit and mix according to the specific instructions. When choosing a shade, select the color that is three shades lighter than the color of your preferred finished look.

Release a single section of hair and put the clip aside. Apply the hair dye from root to tip, saturating the strands with the liquid. Use your fingers to rub the dye into the hair or evenly distribute the dye using a comb. Once the section is soaked in dye but not dripping, secure once again with the metal hair clip.

Place a plastic bag over your hair and secure with a few bobby pins. This will create a heating effect that will help the color further penetrate your hair.
