Face painting is a great way to interact with your child

Paint bunny faces on children for holidays, parties or rainy day activities. Whether it’s just for fun or for a party, a bunny face is sure to make your child glow. Face painting is a great way to interact with your child, and also a wonderful way for older children to express their creativity. There are different types of face paints and kits available; even ordinary face makeup can be used to create a sensation for your child. Either works just as well as the other for face painting; although the quality of the product will make a difference in application, wearability and skin sensitivity.

Instructions

    • 1

Clean your child’s face so it is free of oils or any other hindrances, such as food or dirt.

    • 2

Spread white cream makeup on the child's face for the base with a sponge applicator. Use the gray cream makeup to highlight areas around the cheeks, chin and above the eyebrows.

    • 3

Use the lipstick highlight pencil to draw an upside-down triangle shape on the nose. Fill it in with rouge or lipstick. Apply rouge on both cheeks to give your child an extra glow.

    • 4

Use the black eyeliner pencil to draw a pair of rectangular teeth just beneath the lower lip. Fill in the top lip and the bottom lip around the rectangular teeth with lipstick.

    • 5

Draw whiskers on both cheeks. Also use the black eyeliner pencil to highlight the eyes if desired. Most of all, be creative and have fun!

Tips & Warnings

  • Apply makeup sparingly so it does not clump or crease.

  • Stick to simple designs for children under the age of 7 since they have difficulty sitting for longer periods.

  • Use soap and water to clean off the face paint. A mild makeup remover may also be used to clean off stubborn areas.

  • Avoid using a moisturizer on the child’s face before applying the face paint. This will make the paint smear easy and it won't be as durable.

  • Test a small amount of makeup on the child’s skin to make sure it won’t cause irritation or rash.

  • Choose quality makeup, whether you are using a commercial brand of face paint or regular face makeup.
