How to Get the Vocals on DJ Hero
DJ Hero is a rhythm-based game that falls into the same category as the Rock Band and Guitar Hero games. In DJ Hero 2, a vocals feature was added that enables players to connect a microphone and sing the lyrics along with the song being mixed on the turntables. However, since two hands are required to operate the turntables, the vocals feature is intended to be used when playing the game with at least one other person.

Plug in a compatible microphone.

Choose a play mode and select a song from the song list that includes vocals.

Look at the top of the screen when the song starts and find the vocal highway. This bar displays the pitch of the vocal melody and indicates how long you should sing each syllable of a word. Your voice is represented by the light moving along the vocal highway, and the lyrics are displayed karaoke-style just below it. You earn more points for singing the song on time and in tune.

Watch for transitions. Because you are mixing various songs in DJ Hero 2, some of the mixes you play will contain both singing and rapping sections. Sections that involve singing will be displayed in green on the vocal highway, whereas sections that involve rapping will be displayed in blue.
