How to Assemble a Chain Double Bass Drum
Double bass drumming is very popular with drummers who play rock 'n’ roll or heavy metal music. Some drummers prefer two bass drums, each equipped with a single beater pedal. Other drummers prefer a single bass drum with two different pedals. One pedal has two beaters. When the drummer wants to the bass drum normally, he simply presses the right pedal and strikes the drum with a single batter. If he wants to play blast beats or utilize a different double bass drumming technique, he presses the right and left foot pedal. This forces two beaters to strike the drum. Since both beaters are attached to the right pedal, you must connect the left foot pedal via a chain so the left pedal works the second beater.
