How to Remove Hair Dye From Acrylic & Fibergalss Bath Tubs
Home hair dye kits are convenient, but without the help of a professional you're liable to spill or splatter dye onto your bathroom surfaces. You may not notice splatters at first, especially if you are using a light-colored dye. After the pigments in the dye develop, however, they often turn dark red, purple or brown. Acrylic tubs are easy to clean, but set-in hair dye stains can prove stubborn. Does this Spark an idea?
Things You'll Need
- Baking soda
- Dish detergent
- Vinegar
- Nonabrasive pad or sponge
- Acetone nail polish remover
- Cotton ball
- Bleach
- Spray bottle

Mix 1/4 cup of baking soda with enough dish detergent to make a paste. Add a few drops of vinegar and apply the mixture to the stain. Scrub with a non-abrasive pad or sponge until the stain lightens. Rinse well.

Pour a few drops of acetone-based nail polish remover onto a cotton ball and rub onto the stain until it lightens. Rinse well.

Put on rubber gloves and pour 1/4 cup bleach into a 16-ounce spray bottle. Fill the remainder of the bottle with water. Spritz the stain and allow the solution to set until the stain begins to lighten. Scrub the stain with a nonabrasive pad or sponge. Rinse well with clean water.
