How to Keep Liquid Foundation From Blotting Up

Many liquid foundations are difficult to apply smoothly, as the formulas can be thick and have a hard time distributing evenly over the skin. If the makeup blots up on certain areas of your face, you'll need to take certain measures before and during the application process to ensure a smooth finish. Prepping the skin itself and using the correct tool to distribute the makeup over the face will make all the difference and allow you to achieve a blot-free face.

Things You'll Need

• Oil-free moisturizer
• Clean makeup sponge
• Pressed or loose powder

Instructions

1. Massage a dime-sized dollop of oil-free moisturizer over your entire face and neck, adding more as necessary to make your skin soft to the touch but not slick. This will allow the makeup itself to glide on much easier.

2. Pour a small amount of liquid foundation on a makeup sponge and sweep it across your skin in long strokes.

3. Add more foundation to the sponge as necessary to apply a thin, even coating of liquid foundation over your entire face and neck, including your eyelids and beneath the eyes.

4. Apply a thin coat of loose or pressed powder to set the foundation.
