Add personal touches to poles can enhance the wedding backdrop.

The backdrop of your wedding ceremony is likely going to end up in many of your wedding photos. Adding your own decorative touches can help to make the space your own, create a romantic background for your procession down the aisle and your exchange of vows and help transform the space to suit your wedding theme. Instructions

    • 1

Wrap flowered vines and ivy around the poles so they're intertwined and provide a natural looking camouflage to the poles.

    • 2

Place antique lamps, lanterns or oil lamps on top of the poles so they illuminate the poles and cast a soft glow.

    • 3

Choose a fabric, such as one with bright colors and patterns that suit your wedding theme or of something simple like white lace. Cover the poles with the fabric to add a splash of color or a vintage look.

    • 4

Place potted plants with vines and leaves that cascade down from the tops of poles.

    • 5

Wind white Christmas lights around the poles. In between the lights, glue gemstones and rhinestones. When the glow from the Christmas lights reflects off of the gemstones, the poles sparkle and glisten.

    • 6

Cut shapes, such as circles, out of construction paper that coordinates with your wedding color theme. Glue or tape the circles to the poles to create a design. The circles will create colorful polka dots, ideal for a contemporary wedding.
