How to Get All 16 Badges in "Pokemon Crystal"
Most Pokemon games require you to obtain eight Gym Badges in order to complete the game, but the second generation -- including "Pokemon Crystal" -- has 16 badges. The first eight are located in the Johto region, where most of the game's storyline takes place. After obtaining these badges, you can fight the Elite Four and become the Pokemon League Champion. Then you gain access to the Kanto region -- and another eight Gym Badges for you to collect.

Go to Violet City and engage Falkner in battle. His team includes a level 7 Pidgey and a level 9 Pidgeotto. Use a Geodude with Rock Throw, to defeat them and earn the Zephyr Badge.

Go to Azalea Town, and help Kurt drive Team Rocket out of town. Engage Bugsy. His team includes a level 14 Metapod, a level 14 Kakuna and a level 16 Scyther. Use a Geodude's Rock Throw, to easily defeat these enemies with minimal damage.

Go to Goldenrod City, and engage Whitney. Her team includes a level 18 Clefairy and a level 20 Miltank. Use a rock-type such as Geodude. Female Pokemon have an advantage, as they are immune to Miltank's Attract. Lower Miltank's accuracy with Sand-Attack or Mud-Slap, to reduce the effectiveness of Miltank's Rollout. Defeat Whitney to earn the Plain Badge.

Go to Ecruteak City, and engage Morty. His team includes a level 21 Gastly, a level 21 Haunter, a level 23 Haunter and a level 25 Gengar. Use normal-type Pokemon, to avoid Lick and Shadow Ball attacks. And use a Geodude or Graveler with Magnitude, to deal massive damage to the enemies. Defeat Morty to earn the Fog Badge.

Go to Cianwood City, and engage Chuck. His team includes a level 27 Primeape and a level 30 Poliwrath. Use a flying or psychic-type, to defeat Primeape. Use a grass-type such as Bellsprout or Weepinbell, to avoid damage from Poliwrath's Surf and Dynamicpunch. Defeat Chuck to earn the Storm Badge.

Bring the Secret Potion from Cianwood to the Ampharos in the Olivine City lighthouse, and then engage Jasmine. Her team includes two level 30 Magnemite and a level 35 Steelix. Use a ground-type such as Graveler, to defeat the Magnemite. Magnitude is quadruple effective against them. Use a water-type against Steelix, to minimize damage from its Iron Tail and defeat it, before its Earthquake attacks can defeat you. Defeat Jasmine to earn the Mineral Badge.

Go to the Lake of Rage, and join with Lance, to drive the Rockets out of Mahogany Town. Then engage Pryce, whose team includes a level 27 Seel, a level 29 Dewgong and a level 31 Piloswine. Use a Magnemite or Magneton to defeat Seel and Dewgong with ease. Use a water-type with access to Surf to defeat Piloswine.

Drive Team Rocket out of Goldenrod City, and then go to Blackthorn City to engage Clair. Her team includes three level 37 Dragonair and a level 40 Kingdra. Use a water-type Pokemon equipped with Icy Wind to defeat the Dragonair trio, and take down Kingdra with a strong grass-type Pokemon or massive brute force. Enter the Dragon's Den behind the Gym, and use Surf and Whirlpool to reach the shrine within. Answer the master's questions to earn the Rising Badge.

Defeat the Elite Four and the Pokemon League Champion in Indigo Plateau, to become the Champion and gain access to Kanto.

Go to Vermillion City and engage Lt. Surge. His team includes a level 44 Raichu, a level 40 Magneton, two level 40 Electrode and a level 46 Electabuzz. Use a Graveler or Golem with Earthquake, to easily defeat them and earn the Thunder Badge.

Go to Saffron City and engage Sabrina. Her team includes a level 46 Espeon, a level 46 Mr. Mime and a level 48 Alakazam. Use a Pokemon with a high physical attack stat to defeat her and earn the Marsh Badge. Golem can defeat Alakazam with a single Earthquake, if it can withstand one of its attacks.

Go to the Power Plant east of Cerulean City to learn of the sabotage of the plant. Go back to Cerulean City, fight the Rocket saboteur and learn of the missing part's location -- in the water of the Cerulean Gym. Bring the part back to the Power Plant, to restore electricity to the region. Find Misty north of Cerulean, and then engage her in the Gym. Her team includes a level 42 Golduck, a level 42 Quagsire, a level 44 Lapras and a level 47 Starmie. Use a Magneton's Thunderbolt to defeat Golduck, Lapras and Starmie. Use a grass-type such as Weepinbell or Victreebel to defeat Quagsire and earn the Cascade Badge.

Go to Celadon City and engage Erika. Her team includes a level 42 Tangela, a level 41 Jumpliff, a level 46 Victreebel and a level 46 Bellossom. Use a strong flying or fire-type to defeat them and earn the Rainbow Badge.

Go to Fuschia City and engage Janine. Her team includes a level 36 Crobat, a level 33 Ariados, two level 36 Weezing and a level 39 Venomoth. Use a Golem's Earthquake against the Weezing, and Rock Throw or Rock Slide against the others, to earn the Soul Badge.

Go to Lavender Town, and get the radio expansion card from the radio tower. Use the Pokeflute Radio Station, to wake the Snorlax east of Vermillion and access Diglett's Cave. Use the cave to reach southeast Kanto, and go to Pewter City to engage Brock. His team includes a level 41 Graveler, a level 41 Rhyhorn, a level 42 Omastar, a level 42 Kabutops and a level 44 Onix. Use a Weepinbell or Victreebel with Razor Leaf or Giga Drain, to defeat them and earn the Boulder Badge.

Go to Cinnabar Island and speak to Blue, to cause him to go back to his Gym in Viridian City. Surf east and engage Blaine in the Seafoam Islands. His team includes a level 45 Magcargo, a level 45 Magmar and a level 50 Rapidash. Use Golem's Rock Throw or Rock Slide or a water-type with Surf, to defeat them and earn the Volcano Badge.

Go to Viridian City and engage Blue. His team includes a level 56 Pidgeot, a level 54 Alakazam, a level 56 Rhydon, a level 58 Exeggutor, a level 58 Gyarados and a level 58 Arcanine. Use a Magneton's Thunderbolt against Pidgeot and Gyarados. Use a water-type with Icy Wind or Ice Beam against Exeggutor and Rhydon. Use a Graveler or Golem with Earthquake to defeat Alakazam and Arcanine, beat Blue and earn the Earth Badge.
