How to Get Drafted in the First Round in "NBA My Player"

The My Player mode of "NBA 2K11" enables you to create custom players and guide them through an entire NBA career. The game's Draft Combine and subsequent draft will help to shape the career of your player. Getting drafted in the first round will garner him a bigger contract and much more media attention within the game.

Instructions

    • 1

Select the "My Player" option from the game's main menu, and then select the "New" option to create a new player.

    • 2

Enter your player's basic information, like his name and jersey number, and select a position and playing style for him that suits your gaming abilities. For example, if you play batter with big men, choose forward or center as your player's position.

    • 3

Navigate to the Attributes menu to begin prepping your player for the summer league. You'll have to ration your player's skill points with the attribute sliders in the menu.

    • 4

Max out the "Shot Medium," "Layup," "Steal," "On Ball Defense" and "Strip" attribute sliders, if you're playing with a guard or small forward. If you're playing with a big man, ensure his "Dunk" sliders are set to at least 55 percent, and max out his "Block," "Strip" and "Inside Shot" sliders.

    • 5

Exit the My Player menu to save your player and start the Draft Combine.

    • 6

Focus on steals, rebounds and easy baskets during the games of the Draft Combine. Any mistakes you make will count against your game grade. It may take several attempts to get an A grade. After you receive your grade, you'll have the option to replay a game or to move on to the next one. Restart the game if your grade is below A.

    • 7

Complete the remaining games in the Draft Combine with a grade of A or A+. Replay any games in which you come up short. The draft will start at the end of the Draft Combine. If you've received A's throughout it, you'll be drafted in the first round.

Tips & Warnings

  • Getting an A in every round will require skill. Familiarize yourself with the game's controls on your platform before you start the Draft Combine.

  • Learn from your mistakes. For example, if your grade decreases in the game because you left your man open, play tougher defense and stick with your defensive assignments.
