How to Care for a Shaving Soap Mug

There are many styles of shaving mugs available.

A classic shaving soap mug is a piece of grooming equipment that requires little care to clean and maintain. The average shaving mug is a ceramic or wooden cup that holds a circular puck of special shaving soap. Some shaving mugs also have an attachment used to hold a shaving brush. While these vintage shaving tools are unlikely to collect filth since they are used to hold soap, cleaning out a shaving mug to look pristine takes little effort.

Instructions

1. Rinse the outside of the shaving mug to remove dried soap film.

2. Wipe down the mug with a clean and moist washcloth. Remove the soap puck before washing out the shaving mug.

3. Set the shaving mug upside-down to drain and air-dry. Lay the shaving soap into the base of the mug after the shaving mug completely dries.

4. Place the shaving mug when it is not used in a bathroom cabinet to prevent dust from settling on the exposed soap puck.

• There is no need to worry about wooden shaving mugs warping from contact with water or the humidity from the bathroom shower. Like wooden bath brushes, scrubbers and buckets, wooden shaving mugs are designed and treated to withstand water damage.
